Formed in 1993, the Association brings together and represents many of the leading suppliers of software to the freight and transportation industry. Major developments over the next few years in EU Customs procedures, and a greater emphasis on security issues will have a big impact on software development. In February 2014 AFSS became an Affiliate of EurTradeNet.
AFSS represents members on the main HMRC Joint Customs Consultative Committee (JCCC) and also plays an active role in various working groups including:

       ICS/ECS including Pre-Arrival Pre-Departure

       International Trade Operating Systems

       Service Transformation Programme,including CHIEF replacement

       Import and Export Procedures

       AEO/Centralised Clearance/EORI

       Duty Liability and Special Procedures

       Software Developers Strategic Forum

EMCS (Excise Movement and Control System)

We have regular contact with all the CSP’s i.e. MCP, CNS, CCS-UK, DHB and Pentant, and also with BIFA (British International Freight Association) and UKWA (United Kingdom Warehousing Association). We also link with BIS who have taken over some of the aspects of SITPRO since its demise. Finally, we have links into EU trade groups in Brussels.

For Traders...
Members of AFSS supply software, hardware, communications and consultancy to companies of all sizes involved in freight and international trade. Using a member of AFSS gives assurance that the supplier is reliable and follows a published Code of Conduct. A list of our current members is included in this site with links directly to their own Web-sites.

For Software Suppliers...
Membership is open to any company providing software or related services to companies within the fields of freight, transportation, warehousing and international trade. Details of membership are available on request.

Twice a month we issue a newsletter that attempts to update all relevant trade activities, within the UK, Europe and globally. Copies of Customs Information and Consultation Papers etc are also distributed as and when received, together with details of Customs systems downtimes.
